Cheated by the "false investment" method

Officers from the Szczecin Dąbie Police Station arrested a woman and a man suspected of committing fraud against a 60-year-old resident of Szczecin. The detainees – a 38-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man – will spend the next two months in custody, according to a court order.
"The whole affair began when the victim watched a video on a social media site that featured images of well-known political figures," the Szczecin police described. "After clicking on the attached link, she was redirected to a fake investment form. Then, acting on the scammers' assurances, she made an initial deposit of 800 złoty using a BLIK code."
In the following days, she was contacted by a man posing as a stock broker, who, during numerous phone calls, convinced her that she was participating in a legitimate investment. As a result, she transferred another 37,000 złoty to the fraudsters via bank transfer to a designated account.
The perpetrators, continuing their scheme, tried to persuade the woman to take out loans worth a total of PLN 137,000, which she was to hand over to designated people at an agreed location – the parking lot of a Szczecin store.
Thanks to the victim's vigilance and timely contact with the police, the cash was not transferred. A patrol from the Szczecin Dąbie Police Station was immediately dispatched to the scene and detained a woman and a man suspected of involvement in the crime.
The detainees were charged and the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest for a period of two months.
– The case is developing and further arrests cannot be ruled out – the police announced.
